Late Night Temptations

This past week I have been ultra busy, yet i have been finding the time to jump online and take a peek at all the latest arrivals on my favourite sites. I could not believe my eyes when i received an email from Urban Outfitters on Monday advertising 20% off shoes. I had to control myself and not give in to temptation of all the gorgeous pieces of artwork. If any of you made use of the GREAT savings please feel free to post me your purchases and make me jealous. The other fantastic news in the Urban Outfitters email is that they will be starting a Shoe Club! This is extremely exciting and i cannot wait to see what the club will entail.

I am impressed that i had not been irrational and made a quick purchase, especially when the last order i made from Urban Outfitters included 2 pairs of shoes. I have worn my sparkle ballet flats i previously wrote about regularly but not the boots by Slow and Steady Wins the Race below. I bought them with the intentions of wearing the with mini skirts and opaque stockings but we are still experiencing warm weather in Melbourne. I really hope it gets a bit cooler soon so i can break-in these wedged heel gothic looking boots. I think i will try to make these boots look cute rather than gothic.

How do you think i should wear them?

Shoes for Love

I hope everyone had a beautiful Valentines Day. My gorgeous boyfriend gave me these lovely roses yesterday and a really cute card to celebrate. Flowers always make me feel special and I’m sure every girl in the world loves receiving them. I really wished I had the red shoes on above to match the roses. These are some old favourites which i seldom wear, but always look stunning with black stockings and a black dress. They aren’t too sparkly but they really do catch the eye when I make them THE feature of my outfit. I got them from a Melbourne store called Kinki Gerlinki. I occasionally find some really quirky pieces in there that i feel can work for my look. It isn’t a store most people would think i shop at as my look isn’t a vintage which the store very much is. Although I am a true believer that you should never completely ride off any store – you might surprise yourself with what you might find.

It was also Chinese New Year this weekend and red is a highly auspicious colour in Chinese culture. These shoes had double meaning for me over the past weekend – Love and the New Year. I’d like to wish everyone “Gong Xi Fa Cai”, a Happy Chinese New Year.

Flooding Streets in Melbourne Australia Calls for Appropriate Footwear

I have been looking at getting these gumboots (or what some countries call wellies) for some time however, I have never been able to justify spending over $100 for boots that will protect me feet when it rains. Global warming has meant it never rains in Melbourne, Australia and there is no point in investing in a pair of gumboots which will only sit in my garage and collect dust like so many other pairs of shoes. I also felt a bit ridiculous considering them as we are going through a drought and thought people may think i have lost my mind – since we have tight water restrictions on our everyday usage.

But, today it rained. It was a big rain. A storm in fact with a lightning show and surround sound thunder. The streets in the CBD are flooded and everything from public transport to traffic lights were in chaos. It has had its upside of now allowing me to not feel stupid for wanting wet weather shoes. I can’t quite afford these after my huge splurge, spending $400 on the weekend on fins so i will have to wait a couple more weeks. I can only hope that it continues to rain. But i won’t be wishing this if i have to continue to walk around with soggy socks because i am waiting to receive my leopard print gumboots.

If you want a pair of these, you can purchase them here.

Footwear that has a Purpose

As beautiful as shoes are, sometimes what you wear on your feet actually has a purpose. On the weekend i purchased these fins and dive boots (and the nice bright orange mask and matching snorkel) as part of getting my PADI Open Water Course. The fins (i always thought they were called flippers but our instructor corrected us) and boots set me back $400. I decided to go for fins that are made of rubber and not plastic as they are easier on the calf muscles when diving in the ocean. I also thought the split fins were the only option as they are better for lazy people to swim in. I could have settled for cheaper fins but if i can spend hundreds of dollars on shoes which look pretty but i hardly wear, i figured that something which will actually aid me in scuba diving more easily was not the time to get thrifty on the price. After blowing my budget for the fins I had to settle for a mid-range style of dive boots – none of them looked appealing but if they do the job they do the job. No scuba gear is pretty but i think i can compensate the lack of fashion for how much fun it is to scuba dive.

Learning to scuba dive is extremely rewarding and i highly recommend anyone to take up this hobby. I can’t wait to jump in the ocean in three weeks to complete my course and be able to see what the ocean has to offer.

Add Some Sparkle to Your Everyday Outfit

This week I received my order from Urban Outfitters. It was one of my favourite shops when i was living in London and i was so excited when they announced a few months ago that they were now shipping to Australia. The cost of shipping is on the high-end and is dependent on how much you order – which is why i had held back for a few months to make one big order.

I have been drooling over these gorgeous sequined ballet flats for some time and to my delight they were on SALE! The Kimchi Blue Sequined ballet flats were originally US$38 and i scored them for $29.99. It doesn’t sound like a huge saving but nonetheless it is a saving on shoes that i really wanted (and had convinced myself i really needed). They are definitely going to get some serious wear as i love wearing ballet flats to work on a daily basis and these will make me feel great prancing around adding a touch of sparkle to my work outfit. I don’t consider these over the top, they are flat and t think these can be dressed down with a pair of jeans for the weekend. I can’t wait to start wearing these.

If you would like to add some sparkle to your day, you can purchase the shoes here.
